Our policies, in plain language.

Privacy policy

What we collect

Your account details (name, email address and password, which is stored only in encrypted form); your learning activity (answers, essays, speaking transcripts and assessments, scores, lessons, study plan and progress); your subscription, purchase and payment records; your email preferences; and any messages you send us. We do not ask for or store your full card details; card payments are handled by Paystack.

How we use it

To run your account, mark your work, estimate your bands, build and update your study plan, provide receipts and account emails, send study reminders and tips (which you can turn off), prevent misuse, and improve Bandcrest.

Who processes it for us

We use trusted providers to run the service: Supabase (database, sign-in and storage), Paystack (payments), Google's Gemini API (the live speaking examiner and AI marking), Brevo (email delivery) and our website hosting provider. They process data only to provide their service to us. We never sell your data.

How we protect it

Accounts are verified by email, passwords must be strong, our database lets each learner read only their own records, and staff access requires two-step verification.

Your choices and rights

You can update your details and email preferences in your account at any time. You may ask us to access, correct or delete your data by contacting us, subject to records we must keep by law, such as payment records. Your browser also stores some settings, such as your chosen currency, on your device.

Terms of use

Your account

Your account is personal. Do not share it or let others use it. You are responsible for keeping your password safe.

Free trial

The free trial is one per person and includes the allowances shown on the plans page. Creating extra accounts to repeat the trial is not allowed.

Plans and renewal

Plans give you access for the period you buy and renew automatically for the same period at the price shown when you bought, unless you turn renewal off in your account before the renewal date. We email you before each renewal. Daily fair-use limits apply to AI marking and speaking tests, as shown on the plans page.

Mock tests

A full mock test uses one test from your allowance when you start it. Single mock tests bought separately do not expire.

Skill guides

A guide purchase gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to read the guide online in your account. Guides cannot be downloaded, copied, shared or resold.

Acceptable use

Practice content, lessons and guides may not be copied, recorded, scraped, resold or redistributed. Automated access and attempts to get around access controls or usage limits may lead to suspension.

Feedback and results

Bands, feedback and recommendations, including those produced by AI, are preparation aids and estimates. They are not official scores and do not guarantee any result in an official exam.

Changes

We may update Bandcrest and these terms. If a change materially affects a paid plan, we will tell you by email before it takes effect.

Refund policy

All payments are final. We do not give refunds for plans (including renewals and any unused part of a plan), single mock tests or skill guides. Please use the free trial, which needs no card, to decide whether Bandcrest is right for you before you pay.

You can turn off renewal at any time from your Account page. Your plan then stops renewing and you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. Turn renewal off before the renewal date, because a renewal that has been charged is not refunded.

If you were charged twice for the same purchase by mistake, contact us with your account email and receipt number and we will reverse the duplicate payment. Nothing in this policy limits any rights you have under the consumer law that applies to you.

Accessibility

We aim for keyboard navigation, readable text and contrast, layouts that work on phones, tablets and computers, and clearly labelled controls. If something gets in your way, tell us the page and the help you need and we will work on it.

It is not affiliated with, approved by or endorsed by IELTS, the British Council, IDP, Cambridge, CELPIP, Pearson, the TEF or TCF providers, IRCC or any government authority. All test names and trademarks belong to their respective owners. Bandcrest provides exam preparation only and does not provide immigration or legal advice.
